Topic 3 in this enquiry-based series focuses on voting rights (including the concept of 'one vote, one value'), responsibilities and processes in Australia. It explores the role of political parties, democratic values, the voting systems used in states, and explains the structure of electorates and the process of redistributions. Guidelines and resources to run a mock election in the classroom are also provided. The resource is supported with animated explainers, interactives and printable activity sheets.

This onsite facilitated program examines how people participate in Australia’s democracy. Students explore the importance of civic participation in a functioning democracy through re-enacting historical debates in a heritage chamber on either conscription or the Tasmanian dam debate.
