Sport and War
1 September 2006 – 11 January 2009
Sport and War is the title of a travelling exhibition hosted by the Australian War Memorial. It highlights the connections between sport and Australians involved in war, from the shared qualities of camaraderie, leadership, mateship and teamwork to actual items of war sporting memorabilia that were used to boost morale on the front lines or in prisoner-of-war camps. The exhibition began in Wagga Wagga in September 2006 and will end in Adelaide in 2009. For venues between those dates, visit the Australian War Memorial website.
Ocean to Outback
3 August 2007 – 3 May 2009
Ocean to Outback - Australian Landscape Painting: 1850-1950 is a travelling exhibition of Australian landscape paintings, and part of the National Gallery of Australia's 25th anniversary celebrations. The exhibition can be viewed online, and users are invited to use Google Earth to view some of the landscapes which inspired the works of art which, in turn, influenced the national imagination and Australian identity.
League of Legends
8 March - 11 May 2008
League of Legends is an exhibition of the National Museum of Australia, celebrating 100 years of rugby league in Australia. The exhibition showcases trophies and memorabilia, contains recordings of some of the sport's most famous commentators, and stories about its greatest players and most devoted fans. The exhibition will travel to Queensland in August 2008, to Sydney in November 2008, and to Melbourne in April 2009.
Parliament House Open Day
10 May 2008
9 May 2008 is the 20th anniversary of the opening of Parliament House, Canberra. The occassion is being celebrated with an Open Day at Parliament House on 10 May, and will include tours, exhibitions and entertainment.
