Biography
Biographical writing is an accessible and exciting way with which to engage with Australian history and society. Biography tells the personal stories of people who were influential in the times in which they lived, and they often provide insights into the personal motivations of people who were inspired to perform great deeds or to bring about significant change – sometimes in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds or against fierce opposition. Exploring the personal stories of people, in both reading and writing about them, provides an alternative perspective – perhaps a human dimension – on history and contemporary society.
